In 1959 Goscinny and Uderzo became editor and artistic director (respectively) of Pilote magazine, a new venture aimed at older children. The magazine's first issue introduced Astérix to the French world, and it was an instant hit. Goscinny and Uderzo also launched the series Jehan Pistolet and Luc Junior, in the magazine La Libre Junior. In 1955, Goscinny, together with Uderzo, Jean-Michel Charlier, and Jean Hébrad, founded the syndicate Edipress/Edifrance. The syndicate launched publications such as Clairon for the factory union and Pistolin for a chocolate company.

There he met Belgian cartoonist Morris. After his return to France, they collaborated for more than 20 years on the comic series Lucky Luke He wrote Iznogoud with Jean Tabary. 31 mars 2020 — Serietecknaren Albert Uderzo har dött 92 år gammal. Visserligen arbetade han med den gudabenådade författaren René Goscinny, men det var Uderzo som lyckades få Meddela mig om vidare kommentarer via e-post.
